Artists and community members who work and live in Massachusetts convened on Noepe Land, also known as Martha’s Vineyard, on August 7th 2022 to discuss the beginning of Spiritual is Political and what they hope to see in our inaugural exhibition Black Shedding(s).

Documentation of an artist’s work is a vital extension of SIP’s practice, offering intimate invitations to the spaces where ideas take form and worlds are built. Inside a studio, home, or community allow us to engage deeply with the processes, intentions, and lived realities of contemporary artists whose work surfaces erased histories and overlooked narratives. These visits are not only curatorial tools but also moments of critical learning, where dialogue, design, and space-making blend to shape how we experience and understand art.
